A step I haven't shown is cropping my sketch for the sake of composition. I treat it like a photograph.

Then I placed my sketch as a template it in Illustrator and traced over the lines. It's easier for me to ink in Illustrator than in Photoshop. Another step I skipped, was my attempts at inking by hand; looked horrible.
